Barrier-free indoor navigation

Authorities and hospitals are often extensive and confusing, visitors lose time, ask for directions several times or arrive late. This ties up resources that are needed for consultation and medical care. An accessible indoor navigation app guides citizens and patients reliably to their destination, with voice output, screen reader support and clear directions. The cleverQ indoor navigation module relieves your staff and improves service quality and appointment adherence.

Features and functions

The cleverQ Indoor Navigation module combines barrier-free routing with precise localization – a system that guides visitors safely and independently to their destination.

  • Indoor navigation app for buildings
  • Guided tour from the entrance directly to the finish
  • Start via QR code from the appointment booking
  • Start by ticket at the kiosk, digital or paper
  • Automatic forwarding when called up to the room
  • Integration with appointment management, ticketing and call system
  • Adjust path options, switch stairs, escalators, elevators on or off
  • Query visual acuity: No/a little/full
  • Acoustic compass or visual map view
  • Wheelchair profile, barrier-free paths via elevators and ramps

Routing for walk-in customers

Walk-in customers take a ticket at the entrance – digitally or on paper. The optimal route through the building is immediately displayed on their smartphone. When called up, they are automatically navigated to the relevant room.

Routing for appointment customers

When booking an appointment, customers receive a QR code that guides them directly from the entrance to the right area and through the building to the appointment room.

Accessibility & inclusion

Our Indoor Navigation module takes individual needs into account and makes orientation possible for all visitor groups:

  • Path options: Include or exclude stairs, escalators or elevators. Suitable for people with anxiety or limited mobility.

  • Vision profile: When starting, the app asks about your eyesight. Options: No, A little, Completely. The guidance adapts itself.

  • Select guidance: Acoustic compass with audio feedback or visual map view.

Advantages for authorities & hospitals

Relief for staff

fewer route explanations.

Reduction of delays

Visitors immediately find the right place.

More inclusion & accessibility

People with visual or mobility impairments can also navigate independently.

Increased customer satisfaction

Less stress, more service quality.

Seamless integration

into existing cleverQ modules (appointment management, ticketing, call system).

Everyday scenario:

Hospitals

A patient with an appointment for a blood test comes to the hospital and scans the QR code they received when booking their appointment. The cleverQ Indoor Navigation guides the patient to the correct waiting area.

Once called, the patient is automatically guided to the target department. The indoor navigation app guides them directly to the right room. The process runs without staff intervention and reduces the workload in the reception area, as fewer directions and check-in processes are required.

Accessibility: anxiety

The patient is afraid of elevators. At the beginning, the app asks whether elevators should be avoided. If “Yes” is selected, the route is adapted accordingly, for example via stairs or escalators.

Everyday scenario:

Authorities

A visitor spontaneously arrives at the citizens’ office, takes a digital ticket at the kiosk with their smartphone. The indoor navigation app starts immediately and guides them directly to the appropriate waiting area. When the number is called, the app shows the way to room 204, reducing the number of explanations at the information desk and reducing the workload for employees in the reception area.

Accessibility: impaired vision

In the case of visual impairments, the app offers audio-assisted navigation that guides patients directly to their destination using an acoustic compass or, alternatively, a visual map view.
